PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
The city of Cuttack stands apart on a pedestal of carrying a prodigious legacy of cultural pluralism and collectivism. Aligning with this culture it also nurtures an intellect driven social system that strives for excellence in terms of teaching, learning, research and innovations. Established in 1944, Christ College, Cuttack has come a long way over the years and carved a niche for itself at par with the premier educational institutions of the state and outside. Initially it was started by some missionaries as ‘Utkal Christian College’ imparting education in the evening in the faculty of Arts in the borrowed premises of Christ Collegiate School situated at Mission Road to cater to the educational needs of the in-service employees. However, the college changed its name to ‘Christ College’ in 1949 and metamorphosed into a colossal nucleus of education with 19 academic departments having honours courses along with the +2 courses in Arts, Science and Commerce.
The College houses several facilities such as a well-equipped modern computer lab, Wi-Fi campus, ICT enabled classrooms, and heritage amphitheatre called ‘Malanchal’, Guest house and residential facilities for students and staff. The ’Nalini Library’ of Christ College serves as prolific source of both online and off-line books, journals and classics. There is a gymnasium and an indoor stadium named ‘BijuPatnaik Indoor Stadium’ to help maintain the physical fitness and hone the sporting potentialities of the students and staff.
Christ College, Cuttack fervently endeavours to transform itself into an educational ecosystem that enables and empowers its students, faculty, alumni and society. We aspire to create a difference in the life of each of our students by helping them to meet the challenges lying beyond the campus. We are grateful to the Cuttack Christian Education Board, the Governing Body of Christ College, other individuals and organisations who have invested in the progress of this institution. They inspire us to take it to an altitude greater than where we stand today. We seek the cooperation of everyone in creating an environment conducive for imparting value-based and secular education. We trust that the students of this prestigious institution shall uphold its honour, prestige and glory by exhibiting exemplary character, conduct, camaraderie and become responsible citizens.
